That’s why we offer, and often recommend single tooth dental implants to our patients with a missing or soon to be extracted tooth.
A single tooth dental implant can be used to replace a missing tooth, or a tooth that needs to be extracted due to injury, damage or decay. Using a metal screw to act as the new ‘root’ of the tooth, a single tooth dental implant is made up of the implant itself, and the prosthetic tooth that sits atop it.
The implant itself – which acts as the new root for the tooth – is usually made of a metal called titanium. It is extremely durable and provides a secure and stable foundation for the prosthetic tooth.
Getting a single tooth dental implant usually takes a few months, and will be carried out over at least two appointments. We will first have to ascertain that your jaw is healthy enough to receive the implant. Once this has been done, you will be fitted for the implant here at the practice, after which we will allow the implant and jawbone to successfully fuse together before applying the new tooth.
